Now onboard Delta: my article about our trip earlier this year to the Galápagos Islands. I still get giddy when I see something I’ve worked so hard on in print, and the bonus this time was that several of my photos were used as well – including the two-pager of Bartolomé Island.
Being able to travel with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions was amazing: the naturalists and photo pros were top-notch, the food was plentiful and different every day and our room – once I got used to the rocking – was incredibly comfortable. Our ship was the National Geographic Endeavour II, which had just been renovated and was equipped with kayaks (which we never got around to using; we were too excited about exploring every island on foot), several Zodiacs, a glass-bottom boat and so much more, including a spa – which we definitely took advantage of.
The highlight for us, though, was the people – not just the staff but the other passengers. We explored with a very well-traveled and quite interesting group. And the photographers were fantastic, always open to answering questions and giving tips.
